We all want to keep our youthful looks for as long as possible. If you are young then make sure to prevent aging of your skin so you still look great at 40. If you are past 40, make sure to never ever do the following ever again.

1. Don’t smoke

Ok it’s obivous and hopefully you knew this already. There are many reasons to stop smoking and the aging of skin of one of them. Smokers usually develop more wrinkled, leathery skin, not too mention those uglier wrinkled lips.

2. Don’s sunbathe!

Caucasians may like that nice tan but nothing ages your skin faster that too much sun, causing wrinkles, age spots and rough and leathery skin and even skin cancer. If you do go into the sun, make sure you use a good anti-aging sun cream.

3. Don’t over-exfoliate

You may think that this is a good thing to do as it can help clear flakes and dead skin cells. But too much exfoliation of dry skin will actually cause it to lose its ability to hold onto water which will result in a duller, more lifeless and older skin.

4. Stay away from pollution

Hard to get away from these days, but pollution from car exhaust, smog and others stimulates the free radicals who attack your skin cells. So go for an extra walk and enjoy fresh clean air. Your skin will love it!

5. Don’t use the same moisturizer year-round

This especially applies when you live in a seasonal climate. Your skin could be oily in summer and dry in winter. So if you have oily skin you may want to try a serum when your skin is oily and use a richer cream when it is dry. Usually you can find several options from your favourite anti-aging cream brand.

6. Don’t forget to drink water

We hear it from all the super models. They drink lots of water all day. And for a reason! If you have dry skin then that is a sign that you may not drink enough. Your body needs enough water for the repair enzymes to do their work properly, otherwise they can’t repair the damage from pollution, sun and excess sugar.

7. Don’t use a harsh cleanser

Although I’m not one of them I know that some women like the foamy cleansers and soaps. However, these soaps actually clean too much and can leave lead to premature wrinkling. It is usually better to use an oil-based cleanser.

8. Don’t be too green

Organic products have become the rage right now but for maximum protection from the sun you need a good chemical anti-aging sun cream. There is no natural alternative to ingredients like Differin and Atralin which offer the best protection from the sun and anti-aging.

9. Don’t get too tired

Getting your beauty sleep is not a fable. It really is important to sleep well at night and for most people that means getting at least 8 hours of sleep. Go to bed early and get a good book to get you in calm mood.

10. Don’t get too depressed

You may be doing everything right and still you may look old before your time. Often that is just due to genetics. Have a look at your mum and see how she is aging. Chances are you will probably age the same way. So just continue leading your healthy lifestyle and keep smiling as nothing makes you look old as much as a stern looking face.

Don’t do any of these things and you can add years to your life and look younger for longer!
