Next Genshin Impact banner: release dates, times, and details of current and upcoming banners

Current event: Sangonomiya Kokomi and Raiden Shogun re-runs! Up next: Version 2.6

Who is featured on the next Genshin Impact banner, and when will it go live? Genshin Impact works on a gacha system, where players can spend various in-game and real-world currencies to Wish on a character's banner in the hopes of obtaining a playable version of them.

While many characters are permanently available as potential pulls from the gacha, others — usually 5-star characters — are only available during limited periods as part of Character Event Wish banners. Every Character Event Wish banner features one 5-star character and three 4-star characters with a massively increased drop rate, and the 5-star character is often unique to the banner and unobtainable in any other way.

On this page, we've compiled everything we know about Genshin Impact's current and upcoming banners, including release dates and times for the next banner changeover. Further down the page, we've included some information about characters who are available to purchase from the current and upcoming stock in Paimon's Bargains.

Genshin Impact: current event banner

The current Character Event Wish banners in Genshin Impact are Reign of Serenity and Drifting Luminescence. Both of these are re-runs of banners that debuted in September 2021, and represent your second chance to pull 5-star event exclusive characters Raiden Shogun and Sangonomiya Kokomi, respectively. There are also three 4-star characters who are featured on both banners with an increased drop rate: Bennett, Kujou Sara, and Xinyan.

There are no new characters featured on either banner, but you do get the added benefit of being able to wish for two exclusive characters without having to wait. Note that while the trio of promoted 4-star characters can be pulled from either banner, the featured 5-star characters can only be pulled by wishing on their own individual banner. However, pity accumulates on and is shared between both concurrent Character Event Wish banners.

Both banners have been available to wish on since March 8th at 5pm GMT / 6pm EST / 3pm PST, and will be expiring on March 29th at 3pm BST / 4pm EDT / 1pm PDT (note the change from winter to summer times which occurs during this three-week period).

See below for full details on the characters with increased drop rates on the current banners:

Genshin Impact: future event banners

The next banner(s) in Genshin Impact will arrive as part of the Version 2.6 "Zephyr of the Violet Garden" update, which is scheduled for release on March 30th (times TBC). Highly-anticipated newcomer Kamisato Ayato will be making his debut as the version's new 5-star event-limited character.

New Genshin Impact character Kamisato Ayato poses with Paimon, Aether, and Albedo.

Returning 5-star characters are confirmed to be Ayato's sister Ayaka, who appropriately enough will be getting her very first banner rerun around the same time as her brother's introduction; and Venti, whose return after a year-long absence will doubtless come as a huge relief to his many fans. Reliable sources indicate that Ayato and Venti will share the Phase 1 banner duo that's due to begin on March 30th, while Ayaka will re-run solo during Phase 2.

We don't yet know anything about which 4-star characters will be featured on any of these banners, although it seems like once again no new 4-stars are going to be introduced on this version. We're keeping an eager eye on the Genshin Impact news for more information, and will be sure to update this page with more as we learn it.

Paimon's Bargains and the Starglitter Exchange

Wishes and banners aren't quite the only way to increase your party roster in Genshin Impact. There is another corner of the in-game store where you can potentially get your hands on some new playables. Check out Paimon's Bargains for a regularly rotated stock of common 4-star characters you can purchase outright in exchange for Masterless Starglitter, a currency generated from pulling duplicate characters and high-end weapons from the gacha.

The Starglitter Exchange features two characters every calendar month, and though they're a little pricey at 34 Masterless Starglitter each, this is a guaranteed purchase rather than a gamble. For March 2022, the characters in the Starglitter Exchange are Ningguang and Xingqiu.

Paimon's Bargains seem to work on a regular half-yearly rotation, so here's who we can likely expect to see on offer in the Starglitter Exchange over the next few months:

Genshin Impact gets a new event banner every three weeks, so be sure to check back for news about upcoming banners!
